QUESTIONS TO ANSWER ON THE THEME TOLERANCE

1. What tools can we use to stay tolerant and be empathetic and open-minded?

- We can try to acknowledge the different cultures.
- We can try to investigate the specific country with the specific culture, due to religion, family, food, norms and traditions etc.
- We can use games to try to know each other; The string-game is fantastic! - Every one has to write only ONE word, which describes their experience with having a culture shock - or when we're going abroad; what is our expectations , described in only ONE word? Then you need a string to play the game; round up in a circle while posing your written word. Start with one person saying his/her word aloud and explaining why he/she wrote it. Then the person needs to select another person's word, which he/she thinks can connect with he/her own. RATHER DIFFICULT;RATHER FUN!

2. What kind of questions can you ask in order to reach understanding of a known - unknown situation?

  1. Charlotte, I totally agree with your words. I think they reflect very well what globalization means. You have selected right words because without sentences we can make a general overview about globalization. Maybe I could hep you adding more words like:
    -Interaction
    -Interconnected
    -Interdependent

  2. We must prepare the children for this globalization. We as a teacher, we can bring the message to the children. If we can make the children aware of the fact that globalization is taking place, they can maybe influence the way the world is changing. Example picture of the situation poor/ rich, emigration/ integration, difference/ sameness, ... The children that we are teaching, they are the future of today.

  3. Charlotte,
You have been successful in designing your blog. Congratulations!

Here is feedback to you on the theme “Globalization”
Concerning task 1 which is ..:”Reflect on this quote: Globalization can ... be define as the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa.' (Anthony Giddens, former director of London School of Economics).

You have described and reflected on what globalization is, and the comments have started a fine dialogue on what professional change is.

Concerning task 2 which is ..:”Write core concepts from this challenge with definitions” which is the same as the section called ”Glossary”: “ In this section you collect 3-7 core concepts from each challenge to form your personal glossary on globalization. Write your own definition in English AND in your own language. Order the concepts thematically and/or alphabetically”

You have not started on a “Glossary” yet, have you?

    Yours

  4. Hi Charlotte. I experience some problems in navigating on you blog but I hope this comments finds you. First of all I agree with the Beck quote. Especially if I frame it with Illeris's understanding on how we learn. If we cannot accommodate the concepts that globalisations offers us globalisation can be seen as a threat. From my opinion this is happening through out Europe where different nationalistic parties benefits from peoples fears of globalisation.
Fine reflections on tools but I miss the questions you could frase.
    Best Marcus
